Adjust the three hinge screws on kitchen cupboard doors to fix gaps, tilts and uneven spacing.
KC-01Look at the doors before you touch anythingOpen and close each door and watch where it catches or sits wrong against its neighbour. Note whether the problem is up-and-down (one door higher), in-and-out (one door sticks out further), or side-to-side (uneven gap at the edge). This tells you which screw to turn later.
KC-02Find the three adjustment screws on the hingeOpen the door fully and look at the hinge arm fixed to the inside. Most modern concealed hinges have three screws: one for height, one for depth (how far the door sits in or out), and one for side-to-side gap. They're usually cross-head, sometimes with a small slot for a flat screwdriver.
KC-03Fix a door that sits too high or too lowFind the height screw, usually the one running vertically through a slot in the hinge arm. Loosen it slightly, slide the door up or down until it lines up with the doors next to it, then tighten. Do this with the door closed so you can see the gap clearly.
KC-04Fix a door that sticks out or sits sunk inFind the depth screw, usually on the hinge cup end nearest the door. Turning it moves the door in or out from the cabinet frame. Turn it a little at a time and close the door after each turn to check it now sits flush with its neighbours.
KC-05Fix an uneven gap down the sideFind the side-to-side screw, usually the one running horizontally along the hinge arm. Loosen it and shift the door left or right until the gap between doors is even top to bottom, then tighten. Check both hinges on the door if it has two, since only one may need moving.
KC-06Check every door together and snug up the screwsClose all the doors on that run of cabinets and stand back to check the gaps look even across the whole row. Small adjustments on one door can throw off its neighbour, so recheck each one. Tighten all adjustment screws firmly but don't overtighten, as this can strip the hinge threads.
KC-07Tidy upWipe any fingerprints off the doors and hinges with a soft cloth. Put your screwdriver away and give the hinges a final open-and-close check to make sure nothing has shifted.
