RC-04Refix a loose gripper rod, if neededGripper rod is usually held with masonry nails into a concrete floor, or nails or screws into a timber floor. Pipes and cables can run under any floor, so before you drill or nail, sweep the area with a detector — but still treat it as live, since detectors miss cables in conduit or pipework set deep. Find your stopcock (usually under the kitchen sink) and check it turns before you start, so you can shut the water off fast if you hit a pipe, and if you're at all unsure, isolate the nearest circuit at the consumer unit first.
