HP-03Check for cables and pipes, and know your shut-offs before you drillRun a cable and pipe detector over the whole area, both directions, then still treat the wall as if something could be there — detectors miss cables that are deep, in conduit, or outside the usual safe zones near sockets and switches. Find your stopcock now, usually under the kitchen sink, and check it turns freely so you can shut off water fast if you hit a pipe. If you have any doubt about what's behind the wall, isolate the relevant circuit at the consumer unit before drilling.
