Fit a decorative ceiling rose safely, matching the fixing to your ceiling type and rewiring the pendant correctly.
Working on fixed wiring must leave it safe. If in doubt about which circuit you've isolated, turn off the whole consumer unit while you work.
This is a safety step, not a formal regulation, but treat it as mandatory: detectors miss cables in metal conduit, behind metal-backed plasterboard, or deep in the void, and metal joists confuse cheap detectors further.
Simple like-for-like rose replacement isn't notifiable under Part P in England. If you're adding a new circuit, working in a bathroom, or unsure about the existing wiring, get a qualified electrician to check it.
