FD-02Confirm your wall is solid brick or blockTap the wall — a dull, solid knock all over means solid brick or block, which is what this guide covers. A hollow sound, or a line of screw heads roughly 400mm or 600mm apart, means it's a stud wall — use a metal-stud or timber-stud fixing method instead, not this one. If you tap and get a solid sound but a detector shows a hollow zone starting a little way in, you likely have dot-and-dab (plasterboard glued to masonry) — this guide still applies, but your fixings need to be long enough to reach the solid block behind, not just the plasterboard skin.
