WS-03Drill the fixing holes safelyCables and pipes can run almost anywhere in a wall, not just in the usual safe zones, and a detector can miss ones that are deep, in metal conduit, or behind metal-backed board — so treat every hole as if something might be there until you've drilled a little way and proved it isn't. Before you drill, find your stopcock (usually under the kitchen sink) and check it turns, so you can shut off the water fast if you hit a pipe. If you have any doubt, isolate the circuit at the consumer unit first. Drill straight and steady, stopping if you feel any resistance change or smell burning.
