AB-03Check for pipes and cables before you drillRun a detector over the marked area to check for pipes and cables. Bathrooms often have both running vertically to taps, showers and lights, so treat the whole wall with caution. Detectors can miss cables that are deep, in metal conduit, or outside the usual safe zones, so still drill carefully and stop immediately if you feel resistance change or see dust that looks odd. Find your stopcock now, usually under the kitchen sink, and check it turns freely, so you can shut off the water fast if you hit a pipe. If you have any doubt at all, turn off the relevant circuit at the consumer unit before drilling.
