AB-03Detect for cables and pipes, then drill through the boardRun a cable and pipe detector over every marked point, in both directions, before you touch the drill. Even a clear reading doesn't mean it's safe — detectors miss cables that are deep, run in metal conduit, or sit outside the usual safe zones near sockets and switches. If you have any doubt, isolate the circuit for that room at the consumer unit, and turn the water off at the stopcock before cutting into anything that could carry water. Once satisfied, drill through the plasterboard and the dab of adhesive behind it with a 6mm masonry bit, keeping the drill level.
